In our today’s rapidly evolving job market, academic excellence and qualifications alone are no guarantee of employment. Employers are continuously looking for candidates who do not only possess technical knowledge but also demonstrate adaptability, customer orientation, communication skills, and a proactive mindset. Workplace readiness training bridges the gap between education and employment, equipping individuals with the right tools to thrive in professional environments.
The Bildungswerk der Baden-Württembergischen Wirtschaft e.V., in partnership with Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship and Microfinance (RICEM) conducted a 5-Day Workplace Readiness and Professional Skills. The training targeted new recruits, first and mid-level management staff working in the Hospitality and Retail sector from 28.08. – 03.09.2025. It encompassed a blend of soft skills and behavioural competencies aimed at enabling the participants to function effectively in their workplace. Among the topics covered include communication Skills, Time Management, Adaptability, Teamwork and Professionalism at workplace.
While soft skills form the foundation, professional success also hinges on competencies as digital Literacy (proficiency in tools like spreadsheets, communication platforms), critical thinking (analysing problems and proposing solutions adds value to any role), leadership and networking. Workplace Readiness and Professional Skills are no longer optional, they’re essential. By investing in Training that nurtures both technical and human capabilities, we empower individuals to not only secure employment but to improve efficiency, working conditions, and lead in their chosen fields. The future belongs to those who are ready for it. Recognizing this need, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in collaboration with sequa gGmbH under the PartnerAfrika initiative, is enhancing skills development and youth employment in Rwanda.
A total of 44 participants received a certificate of participation.
