More than 150 multipliers have successfully participated in a training to promote employment opportunities
Since May 2022, more than 150 multipliers for vocational orientation have been trained by the Bildungswerk der Baden-Würtembergischen Wirtschaft (Biwe) in the context of the partnership project “Career Orientation and Job Placement (CoJoP)” with SOS Children's Villages Nigeria. By the end of August, 12 trainings – with a duration of 20 hours each - for teachers, social workers, volunteers and other committed individuals from the most populated country in Africa was conducted. Thanks to the online course “Implementation of Career Guidance and Vocational Orientation (ICAVO)” the participants from the Nigerian states of Abuja, Edo, Ogun and Lagos learned how they can support young people with vocational orientation.
Now, the participants can support young people systematically to find out their interests and competencies, match them to the possibilities within the Nigerian labour market and assist them to apply for jobs successfully. What is important within the process of vocational training? How can young people be supported in their job search? These were some of the guiding questions of the training. Sharing of information, getting to know, and trying out helpful tools as well as the mutual exchange within the group have contributed to the success of the training. In the next step, the participants will put their learnings into action within their work with young people. This will contribute to the fight against youth unemployment.
CoJoP is part of the program "Promoting Needs-based Technical and Vocational Education and Training and Youth Employment in Nigeria - SKYE", which is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Development and Economic Cooperation (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
