Rwandan delegation visits Freiburg

Within the framework of our project "Vocational Training Partnership in Rwanda" financed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through sequa gGmbH, we welcomed a Rwandan delegation to Germany this week. To deepen our cooperation and promote knowledge exchange, toured different institutions and stakeholders involved in the implementation of Dual Training and Education in Germany.

On 12 October, the eight-member delegation from Rwanda visited various institutions in Freiburg as part of their week-long trip. The representatives of the Bildungswerk as well as of SOS Children's Villages in Rwanda, the metal trade association and two vocational schools in Kigali work for or with BIWE as part of our vocational training partnership projects in Rwanda.

The day started with a visit to the Gewerbe Akademie Freiburg. At the beginning, the Departmental head of the Vocational Training Service of the Chamber of Trade  Freiburg welcomed the group. He then introduced them to the dual training system in Germany and the role of the  Chambers of Skilled Crafts. Afterwards the training masters showed the Delegation different training workshops in the fields of metal, sanitation and heating as well as automotive and informed them about the practical training at the Trade Academy. In addition, the delegation was presented the latest welding technology by one of the apprentices.
